Sermon Followup for Sunday, July 12th, 2026

Dear Saints,

This week’s sermon from 1 Kings 8:54–61 reminds us that God’s faithfulness calls for a proper response from His people. Solomon concluded the dedication of the Temple by blessing the nation and urging them to walk obediently before the Lord.

Summary of Practical Lessons and Encouragements.

  • Prayer and personal responsibility belong together. While we should earnestly seek God’s help, we should also use the strength, wisdom, and opportunities He has already given us to pursue obedience and overcome sin.

  • Every blessing of our salvation rests entirely upon God’s gracious initiative. Just as Israel stood secure because God had kept His covenant promises, so we stand secure because of His sovereign grace in Christ. Remembering this should produce both heartfelt thanksgiving and genuine humility.

  • A life of gratitude begins by recognizing God’s faithfulness. Reflecting daily upon His grace shapes our perspective, strengthens our prayers, and gives us confidence regarding His continued care.

  • Israel’s peaceful and prosperous condition reminds us that continued blessing is closely connected with faithful obedience. Although believers can never lose their salvation, disobedience still brings unnecessary sorrow and forfeits much of the joy and peace God intends His children to enjoy.

  • Good works are not the cause of our salvation but the evidence of it. One of the clearest marks of genuine faith is a joyful desire to conform our lives to the will of God, even when His standards oppose the values of the surrounding culture.

  • Our ability to live for God’s glory depends upon our union with Jesus Christ. Through Him we have peace with God, access to our heavenly Father, the assurance of His love, and every spiritual blessing. Remembering who we are in Christ encourages us to pursue lives that honor the One who has redeemed us.

Daily Devotional Thoughts

Monday As you pray today, ask God for His help, but also consider what steps of faithful obedience you can take.

Tuesday Spend time thanking God for His saving grace. Remember that every spiritual blessing you possess is the result of His mercy, not your merit.

Wednesday Examine your walk before the Lord. Are there areas where greater faithfulness would lead to greater peace and joy? Ask God to strengthen your desire to obey Him wholeheartedly.

Thursday Rejoice that obedience is not a burden but a privilege. The Holy Spirit enables God’s children to delight in His commandments and to find joy in living according to His Word.

Friday Reflect on your identity in Christ. You are not a stranger seeking acceptance but a beloved child welcomed by the Father through His Son. Let that assurance encourage you to live each day for His glory.
