Sermon Follow-up for May 17th, 2026

Here is a brief summary of the application from yesterday’s sermon. As you begin your new week, this material will help you apply the sermon.

  • Nathan’s example reminds us how important principled and faithful people are during times of crisis. Because he was grounded in the Word of God, he was able to recognize evil, act wisely, and contend for righteousness.

  • A believer who lives according to God’s truth develops stability and discernment. Rather than being ruled by fear, worry, or confusion, such a person is able to judge circumstances according to God’s standard and provide wise counsel to others.

  • Nathan demonstrated calmness, wisdom, patience, and discretion in a dangerous situation. Adversity should not drive us to panic, but instead to thoughtful action based on truth and godly counsel.

  • God often provides spiritually mature believers who are able to guide others through difficult situations. As we grow in the faith, we should identify and learn from those who consistently demonstrate wisdom, faithfulness, and commitment to God’s Word.

  • Nathan wisely assessed Adonijah’s character based on his present conduct. Scripture teaches that patterns of sinful behavior reveal the true direction of a person’s character and should not be ignored or minimized.

  • Discernment requires us to recognize evil for what it is and to take wise steps to protect ourselves and others from harm. Prayer for sinful people should be joined with wisdom and caution.

  • The passage encourages us to become people who are prepared to serve faithfully in times of difficulty by remaining committed to God’s truth, exercising discernment, and acting for the glory of God and the good of His people.

I will be praying for each one of you this week. May the Lord direct your way for His glory.
